107 year old says nutrition and exercise is the secret to old age
Larry Haubner has reached 107 years of age and took the spotlight in the news recently for having outlasted his savings twice! But what we’d like to point out is that he claims his secret to living so long is nutrition and exercise. Up until age 102 he used to ride regularly. Sadly, due to a fall he had to give up riding but still tries to do resistance exercise regularly.
Although we don’t have any specifics on his diet or training, what matters is that he believes nutrition and exercise is the key to a long life, and based on what we know from research, it’s probably a good call.
So here at The Fit News, we hope you’re eating well and exercising regularly, because we certainly don’t want our average life expectency getting any lower!

My Life in a Fat Suit
Gayle Jordan has documented her weight loss online for almost a year now and she’s down 77 pounds.
What’s her secret? Well, documenting it online is her secret! She’s photographed the scales and herself regularly throughout this period of weightloss to use as motivation to reach the next step.
What’s really inspirational is that she set a goal to walk 90 minutes every day. She managed to follow it for 3 days then gave up! But that didn’t stop her from doing SOMETHING. She then joined a strength training gym and followed some pretty hardcore workouts.
That’s what everyone who’s trying to lose weight needs to do. It’s inevitable that you’ll give up on a certain fitness workout or diet. The secret to losing weight is to then TRY SOMETHING ELSE!
No one sticks to their first ever diet and workout routine. No one. Even the professionals chop and change, tweak, change days around and switch exercises all the time. You need to as well. If one doesn’t work for you, try another. Keep trying until you find one you can stick to for a good period of time, then when you give up on that one try another.
Your initial goal should be to find a diet and routine that you can stick to for as long as possible.
The key to living long is exercising and socializing says 92 year old Eva Melanson
Eva Melanson is 92 years old and hits the gym 5 times a week. The average age limit in the western world today is around 75, so she’s definitely achieved something great here.
So what’s her secret? Well, she claims that it’s regular exercise and socialising! Perhaps this can inspire a new type of gym aimed more at socialising than getting serious with your weights. With the baby boomers gradually reaching senior age, there’s definitely a market there!
What’s the bet Starbucks starts showing up next door to popular gyms?
